Save Kṛṣṇa’s energy! This recipe, according to the “P3 International P4400 Kill A Watt Electricity Usage Monitor”
(US$24.98), requires 0.11 kilowatt-hours of electricity to prepare. This is only about one penny’s worth of electricity!
Basmati rice, as you may already know, is Lord Śri Kṛṣṇa’s favorite rice. It may be purchased at most large grocery stores, at health food stores, or at East Indian grocery stores.
In order to prepare this recipe, you will need the “Double Layer Glass Microwave Cooker”¹ (http://llbest.com/EnergyEfficientCooking.htm).
(Makes 1 or 2 servings)
1. Put ½ cup of basmati rice² into the 4 cup glass bowl.
2. Wash the rice two or three times.
3. Add 1 cup¹ of water.
4. Add ½ teaspoon of salt.
5. Add between 2 tablespoons (¼ stick) and 4 tablespoons (½ stick) of butter.
6. Place the lid on the bowl, the bowl inside the 7 cup glass bowl, and the lid on that bowl also.
7. Microwave on high until the mixture comes to a vigorous boil.
8. Place the 2 pieces of glass pie bakeware on top, up-side-down.
9. Microwave at 1/10 power¹ for 20 minutes¹.
10. Let the rice sit inside the microwave for between 5 and 30 minutes. (If you need to use the microwave again right away, then remove the preparation from the microwave, but keep it covered while it is sitting.)
11. Turn the rice over gently using a spoon or fork.
12. Using your fingers, break off chunks from a solid block of American style cheese, such as Kraft® Velveeta,™ placing them on top of the rice, mixing them with the rice so that all of the cheese melts, and then mixing some more until all of the cheese is evenly distributed. (optional)
13. Keep covered until ready to serve.
¹ Using this revolutionary cooker, the same amount of water, the same power level and the same cooking time will work with any and all microwave ovens, new or old, turntable or no turntable, guaranteed!
² Any white rice could be substituted as long as the instructions say “Combine 1 cup rice and 2 cups water in a 2 quart saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to simmer (slow boil) and cover tightly. Simmer 15 minutes. Turn off heat. Let stand covered for 5 minutes.” or something similar.
